What is Worldwide Marriage Encounter?

Worldwide Marriage Encounter is an enrichment ministry for married couples that value their relationship and desire to share a richer, fuller life together. It is also a program for priests and religious that want to strengthen their relationships with their church and religious communities.

The Marriage Encounter experience is a live event, whether in person or a virtual meeting, typically held over a weekend where three married couples and a priest provide new tools and perspectives, using examples from their own lives, to help couples work through common themes they may face during their marriage. 

Topics included: 

1. Communicating intimately, 

2. Exploring personality styles, 

3. Addressing difficult topics, and 

4. Discovering God’s plan for their marriage. 

Is this a group retreat?

No. Unlike other retreats, Marriage Encounter is a private experience between you and your spouse. There is no group discussion, just time for you to listen, share, and connect more deeply. 

Are there opportunities for ongoing support? 

Yes. After the weekend, couples are invited to join small group gatherings for continued formation and fellowship at their parish or nearby locations.

Does Marriage Encounter make a lasting impact?

Absolutely. Nine out of ten couples who attend report a long-lasting positive effect on their lives and relationship.
