
Archdiocesan ChoirThe select chorus of 80+ voices from all over the Archdiocese provides music for major liturgical events at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart such as ordinations, the annual Chrism Mass, and other Archdiocesan Liturgies celebrated by the Archbishop and his Assisting Bishops. The Archdiocesan Choir provides liturgical music for the celebration of the designated Archdiocesan liturgies and serves as a model liturgical choir for the parishes of the Archdiocese. The growing Archdiocesan Choir is committed to its mission of inspiring beauty and leading the people of God in sung prayer our worship with liturgical music from the sacred tradition of the Church and the many cultures of our region.
Choir membership is open to all adult Catholics of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston who commit to the mission of leading sung prayer as well as regular attendance at rehearsals and liturgies. Choir members will have an above average choral voice, able to match pitch and blend well with other voices. Music-reading ability is preferred but not required. Members are selected based on their vocal abilities, spiritual commitment to worship, and musical knowledge.
