Archdiocesan Choir (ADC)The Archdiocesan Choir is committed to leading the people of God in sung prayer in our archdiocesan worship, inspiring beauty through sacred music, and lifting voices of praise to God with liturgical music from the sacred tradition of the Church and the many cultures of our region.
The Archdiocesan Choir joins our Archbishop, Joe S. Vasquez at the principal liturgies of the archdiocese. We serve the community by encouraging the sung prayer and active participation of the faithful in major liturgical events at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. We minister at ordinations, Chrism Mass, and other archdiocesan liturgies celebrated by the archbishop and his assisting bishops. Our select chorus of 80+ voices from all over the archdiocese, provides liturgical music for these celebrations and serves as a model liturgical chorus for the parishes of the archdiocese. In fulfilling our liturgical music ministry as one of the leading choral ensembles in our region, we strive to inspire the people of God with experiences of God’s beauty and love.
ADC membership is open to all adult Catholics of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston who commit to the mission of leading sung prayer and consistently attending the rehearsals and liturgies. Choir members are expected to have an above average choral voice, sing with good intonation, and blend well with other voices. Music-reading ability is preferred, and members are selected based on their vocal abilities, spiritual commitment to worship, and musical knowledge.
