Our MissionThe Catholic Church’s preferential love for the poor is part of her constant tradition. From the gospels to the saints, unceasing search to be in service of our less fortunate brothers and sisters are essential to the life of the disciple. Thus, we ought to strive to be a beacon of hope and compassion for the poor and marginalized in our communities. Through proper discernment we encourage our young adults to live out the Gospel’s call to love and serve our neighbors, especially those in most need.El amor preferencial de la Iglesia Católica por los pobres forma parte de su tradición constante. Desde los Evangelios hasta los santos, la búsqueda incesante de servir a nuestros hermanos y hermanas menos afortunados es esencial para la vida del discípulo. Por lo tanto, debemos esforzarnos por ser un faro de esperanza y compasión para los pobres y marginados de nuestras comunidades. Frassati Service at Star of Hope
Join us for Frassati Service Day on Saturday, May 9th at Star of Hope! This is a powerful opportunity for young adults to put faith into action—serving meals and sharing Christ’s love with individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Participants can choose between two service locations and shifts:
Men’s Development Center (1811 Ruiz St., Houston, TX 77002)
• Breakfast: 7:15–9:30 AM
• Lunch: 11:15 AM–1:30 PMWomen & Family Development Center (2575 Reed Rd., Houston, TX 77051)
• Breakfast: 6:15–8:30 AM
• Lunch: 11:15 AM–1:30 PMCome encounter Christ in those you serve, grow in community with other young adults, and make a meaningful impact. Deadline to register is May 6th. Spots are limited—be sure to sign up when registration opens!

Frassati Service Leadership Team 2026-2027
The Frassati Service Planning Team will comprise of a dedicated group of young adults committed to living out the call to serve those on the margins while growing in faith and community. Rooted in the spirit of accompaniment and encounter, this team will lead opportunities for young adults to step outside of themselves, encounter Christ in others, and respond with generosity and love.
Guided by this mission, the team seeks to form young adults as servant leaders by fostering meaningful encounters with communities in need, building lasting partnerships with local organizations, and creating opportunities for faith-filled service that transforms both those who serve and those who are served.
As a member of the Planning Team, you will:
- Discern & Advise: Collaborate with Neil Albaña to prayerfully identify and select organizations to partner with throughout the 2026–2027 year.
- Plan & Execute: Help design and coordinate service experiences that are impactful, well-organized, and rooted in authentic encounter.
- Accompany & Participate: Be present at service events as you are able, helping to foster a welcoming, reflective, and Christ-centered environment for all მონაწილants.
Through this work, you will play a vital role in cultivating a culture of service, encounter, and missionary discipleship among young adults.

The Houston Food Bank serves the 1 million food-insecure individuals in southeast Texas by distributing food and essentials through over 1,600 community partners. They also offer programs focused on nutrition education, health management, and assistance to help families achieve long-term stability. Houston Food Bank - VolunteerCasa Juan Diego
Casa Juan Diego, founded in 1980 following the Catholic Worker model, serves immigrants, refugees, and the poor, expanding from one small house to nine. They publish the Houston Catholic Worker newspaper quarterly to share the values of their movement and highlight the stories of those affected by global economic challenges, while also providing hospitality and services for immigrant women, men, and children. The Society arrived in the United States in 1845, where the first conference was formed in St. Louis, Missouri. The first presence of the Society in the Galveston-Houston area was in 1871 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Galveston. Today, there are 58 Conferences in the Galveston-Houston Council with more than 1,900 members growing spiritually through friendship and service to those in need. There are many ways and levels to volunteer.

Magnificat House - VolunteerSpecial Youth Services
Special Youth Services models the embrace of Christ through pastoral care, advocacy, and faith sharing in local juvenile justice centers, facilities, and programs including the promotion and coordination of restorative services to at-risk youth and their families. The SYS ministry encompasses all counties within our local Archdiocese, working with youth from ages 10-17. With the help of volunteers, Special Youth Services goes into the margins of the Houston community and serves young people who are currently involved, have been involved, or are at risk of being involved with the juvenile justice system. There are many ways to get involved, the most common of which is to sign up for a weekly Bible study in a facility. For more information or ways to get involved, visit their website:
