The Office of Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC) assists parish catechists and catechetical leaders to implement the Archdiocesan Early Childhood and Childhood Curriculum for Faith Formation. This systematic, age-appropriate curriculum for parish faith formation programs is based on the archdiocesan document Catechetical Framework for Lifelong Faith Formation.
The curriculum is composed of 4 "Big Ideas" (Units) which are centered on the person of Jesus: 1. Who is Jesus Christ? 2. How do we get to know and love Jesus Christ? 3. How does Jesus Christ teach us to live a moral life? 4. How are we called to become missionary disciples of Jesus Christ? The archdiocese offers several trainings called catechist modules each year to support catechists and catechetical leaders in using the curriculum. After completing these trainings, catechetical leaders will receive a password that gives them access to lesson plans, sample calendars, and other resources to assist them in implementing the curriculum.
If you are a new catechetical leader who needs assistance teaching the Early Childhood and Childhood curriculum at your parish, please contact Sr. Maria Goretti at [email protected]
