The School of Environmental Education (S.E.E.)

The School of Environmental Education (S.E.E.) is a program of the Camp Kappe Youth Retreat Facility and is an accredited school offering a supplemental education program to the parochial schools of the area.
S.E.E. provides 5th grade students in our Catholic schools a four-day outdoor experience of God's gift of nature while studying life cycles, food chains, the environment's effect on man, man's effect on the environment, conservation of resources, etc. It offers hands-on experience with farm animals and gardening along with many other exciting adventures in outdoor education.

From Austin
Travel from Austin toward Houston on U.S. 290. At Brenham follow S.H. 105 to Navasota. At Navasota, S.H. 105 turns, following S.H. 6 south for about 1 mile and then S.H. 105 turns east toward Plantersville. At Plantersville, turn north on F.M. 1774. Go approx. 1 mile north on F.M. 1774 and the Camp Kappe turn-off is clearly marked on your left.
From Beaumont
Travel north on S.H. 96 to Post Oak Mall. Take S.H. 105 toward Sour Lake. Stay on S.H. 105 until reaching Plantersville. At Plantersville, turn north on F.M. 1774. Go approx. 1 mile north on F.M. 1774 and the Camp Kappe turn-off is clearly marked on your left.
From Brownsville
Travel from the Rio Grande valley via U.S. 77. Continue until reaching Giddings and turn east on U.S. 290 toward Houston. At Brenham, follow S.H. 105 to Navasota. At Navasota S.H. 105 turns, following S.H. 6 south for about 1 mile and then S.H. 105 turns east towards Plantersville. At Plantersville, turn north on F.M. 1774. From Houston
Travel north on I-45 toward Conroe. At Conroe, turn west on S.H. 105 toward Plantersville. At Plantersville, turn north on F.M. 1774. Go approx. 1 mile north on F.M. 1774 and the Camp Kappe turn-off is clearly marked on your left.
From San Antonio
Travel toward Austin on I-35 to San Marcos. Turn northeast on S.H. 21 until you reach U.S. 290. Turn east on U.S. 290 toward Houston. At Brenham, follow S.H. 105 to Navasota. At Navasota S.H. 105 turns, following S.H. 6 south for about 1 mile and then S.H.105 turns east towards Plantersville. At Plantersville, turn north on F.M. 1774. In 1981, the deed for a 130-acre tract of heavily wooded rolling land approximately one hour north of Houston in Plantersville, TX (Grimes County), was acquired for a new camp/youth retreat site. The site was designated to serve as a center for youth retreats, youth camping, and spiritual growth programs operated by the Office of Adolescent Catechesis and Evangelization. It was clearly identified to be a function of the department to give parishes and schools of Galveston-Houston their own complex rather than relying on facilities of other denominations or secular organizations. The center was officially named Camp Kappe, in memory of Fr. T. W. Kappe, a priest who worked with young people of the diocese for more than 20 years prior to his death in 1976.
