Information for Prospective Parents
The decision to welcome a child into your home through adopting or fostering is a beautiful act of faith and charity.  Yet the process of becoming an adoptive or foster parent can seem confusing, time- consuming and challenging.  The resources below can assist you and your family to learn more about becoming a foster or adoptive parent and suggest helpful questions to ask of adoption and foster licensing agencies as you begin the process.  
 
New Life Adoptions
Located in Tomball, TX, New Life is a Christian adoption agency, serving families throughout the Houston Metro area.  
 
DePelchin Children’s Center
DePelchin offers a variety of services for families, including foster and adoption services for prospective parents.  
 
Riverside Project
 The Riverside Project is a Houston-based nonprofit organization helping to connect businesses, organizations, churches and individuals with children in the foster care system.  The Riverside Project maintains a variety of resources for families seeking to discern if fostering a child may be right for their family.  

Parish Involvement
Parish ministries and teams may also feel called to support children and families in the foster system.  Options for involvement may include:
 

• Hosting a donation drive for a local foster closet
• Supporting a nearby group home for teens in foster care (RTCs)
• Host an event for foster youth at your parish
• Mentoring youth in foster care or aging out of foster care

 
If your parish feels called to serve, several organizations can help your team discern how to best support vulnerable young people and families.

Houston Pearls Foundation
