Orientation for New Catechetical Leaders

The Orientation for Parish Catechetical Leaders is a one day, in-person gathering:

• That will give participants an overview of the many roles and many areas that a successful PCL is aware of and knows how to handle.

• That will give participants an overview of the many resources that the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston offers PCLs to do their ministry successfully.

• That will begin a process of accompaniment between each participant and the archdiocesan office of Evangelization and Catechesis.

• This accompaniment process will guide them to choose a formation path that best suits their immediate and proximate 

• That will empower them do their ministry successfully and with a sense of fulfillment.
  

Who is a PCL?

A Parish Catechetical Leader (PCL) is a paid or volunteer leader, serving as director and/or coordinator of one or more of the following catechetical programs:

• Faith Formation for children and/or adults
• Sacramental preparation for one or more sacraments (excluding high school Confirmation)
• Recruitment of Catechists, Catechist Formation and Certification
• O.C.I.A., O.C.I.A. adapted for children and teens
• Anyone in a position of leadership in the catechetical programs of a parish

Who else should register?

• If you have been in ministry for less than 5 years or more and you did not get enough and appropriate training. 
• If you wonder if there is a more efficient and effective way to do your ministry.
• If you believe you could benefit from a mentoring relationship with the O.E.C. as you grow in your position as a Parish Catechetical Leader
