Archbishop Vásquez: Catholic Schools are always places where young people encounter Christ

Archbishop Joe S. Vásquez, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, celebrated the Opening Schools Mass for more than a thousand of Galveston-Houston's Catholic school leaders, teachers and staff on Aug. 8 at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

This annual Mass brings together students, educators, clergy, and families from across the Archdiocese’s 56 Catholic schools to mark the beginning of a new academic year with prayer, music, and community spirit.
