San José Clinic carries 100-year legacy of care forward with $1 million grant

HOUSTON — The San José Clinic has been awarded a grant in the amount of $1 million with the opportunity to receive an additional $500,000 as a match by the George Foundation.

This announcement, which came July 8, meant the $1.5 million grant was possibly the largest grant from a single funder for the clinic.
The clinic is also marking its centennial anniversary. The grant will support general operating and the expansion of critical services to our Fort Bend County clinic, including charity dental services — the first of its kind in the county — and disease state management.

With a mission is provide healing through quality healthcare and education with respect and compassion for those with limited access to care, San José Clinic sees first-hand the urgent need to provide quality healthcare services for individuals and families in Greater Houston and Fort Bend County areas who struggle the most with accessing care.

The George Foundation trustees and staff support Fort Bend County residents by coordinating the foundation’s goals with the vision of the founders, Albert and Mamie George.

Grantmaking by the foundation advances its mission to collaborate with the community and use foundation resources to have a positive impact on Fort Bend County and its residents. Because of grants, organizations like San José Clinic can continue to providing quality healthcare and education for the underserved.

“The George Foundation is excited to invest in the expansion of services at San José Clinic’s Rosenberg site,” Roger Adamson, CEO of The George Foundation, said. “The addition of dental services and disease state management to San José’s existing primary and specialty care practice demonstrates the clinic’s commitment to provide high-quality medical services to Fort Bend residents with limited access to care.”

The George Foundation and San José Clinic are working together to improve the quality of life for the uninsured and underserved people of Fort Bend.
